Pink Ribbon Motorcycle Charity Ride - 12 October 2008












Cheque presentation to NZBCF for $14,000	Honda Today Motorino 50 Winner - J Hill-Willis

The Auckland Branch 5th annual WIMA Pink Ribbon Ride took place Sunday 12th October 2008. We had a fabulous turnout and gorgeous weather! This year Blue Wing Honda very generously donated a Honda Today Motorino 50cc Scooter. We sold raffle tickets at Eastridge Shopping Centre, St Johns - Palmers Garden Centre, Pakuranga and various Bunnings Warehouses - this was a tremendous help in selling raffle tickets, we also sold raffle tickets on the day to motorcyclists part-taking in the ride.

After a lot of advertising, including posters, flyers, stories in the local papers and radio stations plugging the event, we had just under 240 bikes turn out

The ride went smoothly and without a hitch thanks to the Police escort (two cars & three bikes) and a green traffic light wave, which gave the entourage an uninterrupted ride.

A lot of effort was put into bike & rider decoration and it was a wonderful sight seeing so much pink riding along Tamaki Dr.

On arrival at Western Springs Stadium the crowd, & there seemed to be lots of people, swarmed to the two coffee vans and the sausage sizzle team while the army of volunteers mingled through the array of people & bikes selling raffle tickets and the last of the amazing 2008 Pink Ribbon Badges.

Thanks to the amazing talents of Lisa Shelley, & generosity of our sponsors, an array of spot & raffle prizes were handed out during the informal presentation ceremony.

A representative from the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation spoke and accepted a cheque of $14,000 - this was mostly raised by selling raffle tickets.

The winner for the Honda Today Motorino 50cc scooter was J Hill-Willis of Kohimarama.

There are so many thank you's – without the support of friends, family, sponsors, Police & venues our hugely successful event wouldn’t be possible. To you all THANK YOU.
