WIMA News and Updates

Did you know....
WIMA international is growing, we have three countries who are asking to join..they are Korea... with around 200 members, Hungary.... with 80 members and Curacao (Carribean).......100 members.

And they are being welcomed on board..... that will bring the number of countries up to 23.

This is great news for WIMA, we are the only international motorcycling club.
What that means is it has an international executive body. There are other clubs who have clubs in different countries eg. Ulyssess which has a club in Australia and of course there are the Harley Davidson riders but no others actually have an international body.
It takes women to be organised!!!!

Shortly after our National Rally in November, I caught up with our new Vice President and our new Editor for a few words on how they felt about their new roles and the coming year? Read More...

As the new Vice President I've still yet to fully comprehend my full role(s) of responsibility. However, one role will be to be more connected (in touch) with our Area Reps and Contacts nationwide. I've already started and have asked for a brief introduction from everyone, so look forward to hearing more about these amazing people who keep WIMA alive and active.
And I have heard I get to 'nag' the President occasionally !!!!
I'll let you know more about what I've been up to once I've got a handle on being VP (Very important Person) .. lol.

After three years as a member, I decided it was time I officially stepped up and took on a role after Julez decided she needed to cut her national roles back to one. Despite the horror stories (or more because they came out after I'd agreed to take it on) I said I'd take on the role of magazine editor. Regular (that's annual, ay) newsletters. Yip, sure I can coordinate that with a little help from my friends... So Julez has agreed to do a farewell pre-xmas newsletter then inundate me in the new year with just what I've taken on! So please, give Julez some good stories to entertain us, about what you've learned, rides you've done, rallys you've enjoyed, etc, and then go do some more cool stuff to feed to me for the 2011 mags!!!

News from the President
The wima international rally this year was held in Osaka Japan and attracted 260 members, it was the biggest rally to date and was hugely successful. The 2011 Rally will be held in England. The European Rally is due to be held in the Netherlands from the 2nd to the 7th August. This is where the first ever WIMA rally was held in 1958 and there have been rallys held every year apart from 1962 since then. There are usually two rallys a year one international and one European. New Zealand has hosted one international rally and that was in 2005.

There are currently 19 active national WIMA Groups and it is the ONLY motorcycle group/club that has an international membership aligned to one International Executive.

FEMA organised the first International Motorcyclists Conference in partnership with the Canadian and Australian motorcycling associations and the European Commission. Under the theme, "Motorcycling into the 21st Century", key issues of the transport sector - environment, technology and safety - were presented and a forum for the exchange of ideas, the discussion of challenges and solutions was successfully launched.

This Conference aims at becoming a regular event gathering politically aware motorcyclists to discuss important matters of policy affecting motorcycling.

The two-day conference took place at the Auto World conference centre in Brussels on June 28th and 29th. The event was attended by riders' representatives, researchers, professional associations, traffic managers, trainers, industry and government representatives.
